Funding Available for Farm and Forest Landowners Impacted by Hurricane Helene

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture launched the Hurricane Helene Agricultural & Timber Relief Fund to assist farmers and forest landowners impacted by the Sept. 26–27, 2024, storm. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the program provides financial assistance to eligible producers in Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington counties who experienced documented agricultural or timber losses.

The application period is open until July 21 at 5 p.m. Eastern. Applications must be submitted online and require documentation to verify land ownership or lease, along with evidence of storm-related losses. Eligible losses may include damage to crops, livestock, farm infrastructure and timber. Payments are based on approved cost categories and available funding as outlined in the program work plan.
